This article emphasizes how Nate was not the typical smuggler. It incorporates quotes and testimonies from his friends and family. The quotes within the article emphasizes how Nate was just a normal kid before he became a drug dealer.The article also goes into detail on how they lost their business. Things got too rough and dangerous, and at that point the two men were not able to control their business. Although their business was illegal, Binelli commends them on their innovation and entrepreneurship. Binelli does this to show how Nate was not the typical smuggler, and to have people sympathize with Nate. Binelli also emphasizes several times within the article, that he was just a kid who smuggle a lot of drugs. Binelli goes into detail on how drugs are smuggled. The way Binelli employs this technique allows for the reader to relate with Nate and not to view him as a criminal.
